Suggested Google Ads setup for the Clarksburg area
Google Ads location targeting can be set by country, state, city, ZIP code or a radius around an address, and the location option can be set to people in the area only (“Presence”) instead of people who have shown interest in it. For local service clients, “Presence” plus a city list or radius built from real drive distances is usually the starting point.
Campaign 1: Clarksburg core
Presence targeting on Clarksburg, Bridgeport and Shinnston (3 cities, farthest 8 mi). Exact and phrase match on the client’s core services; budget sized to this area first.
Campaign 2: outer ring
Fairmont (18 mi) and Morgantown (32 mi). Separate budget so the farther cities can’t take spend from the core; pause any city where the client doesn’t take jobs.
Exclusions to set
Exclude locations beyond 35 miles of Clarksburg and review the location report monthly for clicks from outside the area.
